As reported by The Sun, Manchester United star is set to be handed a big pay rise as reward for his blistering recent form.
What’s the story?
Rashford has already scored five goals this season, assisting another four for his teammates and that’s prompted Jose Mourinho to re-evaluate how he deals with the player’s contract demands.
That’s according to The Sun, who say the star currently earns £50,000-a-week.
The paper reckon that he’s in line for a big pay boost when he turns 20 at the end of the month, even if exact figures have yet to be agreed between the player and the club.
With a huge potential, it’s vital that United keep their star youngster happy if he’s to realise that potential at Old Trafford.
Progression
Since bursting onto the scene two seasons ago, Rashford has had dips and peaks in his form, but this season the pieces seem to be coming together and he’s showing more consistency than ever before.
That progression has been pleasing to see for United fans, they can almost see him learning week after week. Overall he’s scored 24 goals and assists 12 more in 82 appearances, many of which were from the bench.
Now coming out of his teenage years, he’s set to bring his game to the next level and that’s why United are reported to be eager to keep him committed to the club.
There is always a danger of rewarding youth too much, too soon, but Rashford has shown maturity beyond his years thus far and a pay rise is likely only a positive for player and club.
