The release of Football Manager 2019 is just days away and we cannot contain our excitement at the prospect of seeing all the brand new features the developers have been drip-feeding us in recent weeks.
Many believe the BETA will drop to anyone who has pre-ordered the game this week!
Baring that in mind, it’s probably time to start considering your options, who will you take charge of first is important but also who will you buy first?
All FM Bosses dream of spotting ‘the next Messi or Ronaldo’ using research, knowledge or just pure gut instinct.
Luckily for you, we’ve done the majority of the hard work for you, by picking out 20 ‘Wonderkids’ that we predict will be dominating the game for years to come.
The majority of these players are in the 15-18 age group, so you should only be looking to buy these players if you are in it for the long haul.
Thank us later!
Nathan Wood-Gordon
Wood-Gordon made his first-team debut when he came on as a substitute in Middlesbrough’s League Cup game against Notts County.
The centre-back has already been in the England set-up at U16 level and is expected to move up the ranks throughout this coming season.
As a defender he will no doubt flourish under Tony Pulis.
Erling Braut Haland
Many FM regulars will have spotted Haland last year as an up and coming talent playing his football at Molde in Norway.
The 18 year old striker has already caught the eye of a number of European clubs, including Manchester United, because of his performances this season.
So if you didn’t acquire his services in last year’s game then make sure you snap him up this time around.
Houssem AouarFrench side Lyon have a history of nurturing fantastic young talent and it seems they’ve done it again with Houssem Aouar in recent seasons. At 20-years-old he is a little older than a number of players in our list of ‘wonderkids’ but having improved and become a more prominent player in the Lyon set-up, FM bosses should really be looking into acquiring his services this year.It may be difficult to convince Lyon to let him go, but he feel he will certainly be worth it. Eddy SalcedoSalcedo turned 17 this month and thanks to performances last season with Genoa, has moved to Inter Milan on a season long loan, with a look to making the deal permanent. You will need to convince the Italian born midfielder not to make his move to Inter permanent, but if you get in soon enough, you’ll grab yourself a fantastic player, with huge potential. Dimitri OberlinBasel are another team who have a reputation for producing great talent and Dimitri Oberlin is no exception. At 21, Oberlin is an established Champions League player having scored four goals in four games in the competition last season. The pacey attacker is surely on the cusp of a big money move, so why not get in there first on FM!Maarten VandevoordtIf you are looking for a young goalkeeper to bolster your squad, then Maarten Vandevoordt is your man.Dubbed the new Thibaut Courtois, the Belgian U17 shot stopper has been training with Genk’s first team since January but hasn’t had an opportunity in the first team yet.
Karim AdeyemiAdeyemi has a bright future ahead of him and at only 16 years old has already made a €3M transfer from Unterhaching to Austrian giants RB Salzburg. It seems Salzburg are open to loan offers for the youngster, as he is currently at FC Liefering, well worth any FM boss enquiring about his availability.
Hirving Lozano
In terms of age Hirving Lozano isn’t exactly a ‘wonderkid’, but after an impressive summer in the World Cup, FM bosses can expect to see the midfielder’s stats improve from last year.
Considering he is playing at PSV, he will surely be looking for a big money move, so could be persuaded by an offer from a Premier League club.
George Nunn
The amount of youth players that fly through Chelsea’s academy is almost ridiculous.
16-year-old George Nunn has been impressing many with his performances in the youth set-up and is being touted for a squad call up very soon.
Christian Vassilakis
At 17 years old, it’s probably a bit too soon to be expecting Christian Vassilakis to step into Cristiano Ronaldo’s shoes at Real Madrid.
But the right winger of Greek nationality is hoping to make a name for himself, having already been called up for the Real Madrid U19’s.
Harvey Neville
Following in his father and uncle’s footsteps, Harry Neville is making a name for himself in Manchester United’s academy set-up.
At 16, Neville signed a contract with United and was handed the no.7 shirt!
Jack Bearne
Bearne signed for Liverpool in 2016 for a rumoured £150,000 from his hometown club, Notts County.
He was just 15 then and has since become a regular in the Reds’ youth teams and at 17 is already playing with the U18’s.
Bali Mumba
Just before his 17th birthday, Bali Mumba made his first team debut for Sunderland at the end of last season.
With Sunderland in financial difficulties and relegated to League One, Mumba has been given a number of opportunities this season to show his quality in the heart of the defence.
Luke Matheson
Another player plying his trade in the lower league youth set-up, Luke Matheson is attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.
The 15-year-old midfielder is currently at Rochdale and has already made his first team debut, coming on as a substitute in the Checkatrade Trophy.
