Slot set to take charge of the RedsWill lead the post-Klopp era at MerseysideMight be formally announced in the next few daysWHAT HAPPENED?
After being rejected by Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and turning away from Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim, Liverpool zeroed in on Slot to start a fresh project as a nine-year journey with Klopp will reach its conclusion in May. Although club legends and pundits, including Jamie Carragher, have expressed their bewilderment over the appointment of Slot, a"dearth of real top managers out there" has forced Liverpool to go ahead with the deal.

However, Slot's achievements with Feyenoord are decent – if not spectacular. He was awarded a three-year contract last year after the 45-year-old led the Rotterdam-based club to the Eredivisie title and are set to finish as runners-up to PSV in the current campaign. After he conquered the Dutch league, English clubs started showing interest in him. However, despite offers from Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur last summer, the former AZ Alkmaar coach opted to stay at Feyenoord and honour his contract. But, the allure of Liverpool proved too enticing and he could not turn down the Premier League giants.
WHAT SLOT SAID
Slot offered an update during a press conference on Friday regarding the timeline for his potential announcement. "It's not quite done yet, but it will be a matter of days," Slot said. "It takes more than a simple shopping list and going to the store. These kinds of things have to be timed properly. It hasn't been communicated yet, but don't worry, it will undoubtedly happen soon."
