De Jong has come under immense pressure and has been a target of criticism following his recent performances. Barcelona have dropped 10 points in their last five league games, and the Dutch international has played a role in all those games.
He had a forgettable evening in the 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad last month, followed by his lack of intensity and determination which led to Celta Vigo scoring the equaliser in the 86th minute. Last weekend, he fouled on-loan striker Vitor Roque in the box in the team's eventual 2-2 draw against Real Betis.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona are open to offloading the 27-year-old in the upcoming January transfer window. In fact, the Catalans are demanding only €20 million to sell the player. De Jong was subjected to boos from the Barcelona faithful in the Champions League clash against Brest at the Montjuic two weeks ago.

After their 2-2 draw at the Benito Villamarin against Real Betis, the focus will now shift to the midweek Champions League against Borussia Dortmund. Barcelona are currently in a strong position in the competition, capturing 12 points out of a possible 15 from their first five games. They are on course to seal a spot in the top eight.
