West Ham are eyeing a move for versatile PSV Eindhoven ace Jorrit Hendrix to bolster their midfield, CalcioMercato reports.
What’s the word?
Manuel Pellegrini spent in excess of £100m at West Ham in the summer but his rejuvenation of the Hammers squad is far from complete, as the Chilean boss eyes another addition to bolster his midfield options.
The East London side Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere during the close-season but both have since been sidelined with injury problems, while veteran fan-favourite Mark Noble is into the twilight years of his career.
As such, CalcioMercato states West Ham are expressing an interest in PSV Eindhoven’s Jorrit Hendrix, a 23-year-old who is naturally a defensive midfielder but can also be utilised in defence if required.
A good signing?
With vast experience in the Eredivisie and in the Champions League with PSV, Hendrix is a midfield addition that would provide some much-needed grit into West Ham’s side – helping to construct a solid spine through the team.

However, the Holland international is also said to be a target for Tottenham and West Ham may struggle to beat their London rivals in the hunt for his services due to his mammoth asking price – and PSV will hope for a bidding war to develop.
Beating Spurs in the market would certainly be a statement of intent though and West Ham should make early advances to jump to the front of the queue before a battle heats up, as that could leave the Hammers disappointed.
